Location
There’s much more to the Serengeti than the famous Great Migration, but it is quite a spectacle to behold if you’re in the park between November and July. The Serengeti is vast and filled with a variety of antelope, zebra, giraffe, warthog, hippo and big cats including leopard and cheetah.
The park’s largely open landscapes make it easy to spot animals – and it’s a beautiful place for photographers to create a unique composition. Accommodations are plentiful and varied throughout, from luxury tented camps to well-established lodges. Long days spent in the safari vehicle are well worth it – there’s always something special to see in the Serengeti.

Private Safari House in the Serengeti
Named in honour of Mkombe Mniko, an inspirational guide, the house sits atop Kogakuria Kopje in one of the richest mammal habitats in Africa.
Very much a private home, Mkombe’s House will sleep four adults and six children in comfort. Each room has an en-suite bathroom.
It is the perfect retreat for families, with a large swimming pool and children’s pool, as well as flexible and child-friendly menus. Your suites are light and open, beautifully styled and with some of the most impressive vistas in the Serengeti.

Conservation
Mkombe’s parent company, Nomad partners with the FZS led de-snaring programme. The programme sends a team of rangers out to find poachers’ camps and remove wire snares from around the Serengeti ecosystem. Nomad donates $1 for every bed night spent at Mkombe’s House to this fantastic and, so far, very successful project.
Environment
Nomad prides themselves in their eco-friendly design, food sourcing, waste management and plastic use. They have ensured that Mkombe’s design had minimalism in mind meaning complete immersion in its natural surroundings and have reduced their overall ‘food miles’ sourcing, wherever possible, from local communities.
Community
Many communities have strained relationships with neighbouring wildlife. Through alternative livelihoods training, wildlife monitoring, and ‘Watoto Go Wild’ programme, Nomad helps run campaigns to change minds and encourage local ambassadors and young leaders to stand up for their wildlife, environment and national heritage.
