You don’t have to try hard to find zebra, giraffe, lion, and leopard; they are abundant across Kidepo Valley. We do, however, recommend trekking across the savannah and enjoying a refreshing drink under a shady fig tree as a herd of elephant plays nearby. You can also learn about traditional Ugandan culture in the Karamojong village, meeting the locals who blissfully live and farm in the area.
Gaze out in awe at the endless green plains of the Kidepo Valley National Park from your private living room or luxurious stone bathtub. Each of Apoka’s 10 rooms is complete with its own terrace and a cooling plunge pool carved into a huge rock, offering uninterrupted views across the lush Ugandan wilderness.
Each room emphasises comfort and a sense of space. The walls are made from natural canvas and surround a kopje with views for as far as the eye can see. The furnishings are all handmade, with hand-woven carpets that brush the feet, plush cotton towels, oversized dressing gowns that envelope the body, and sprawling wooden beds covered in soft duvets.
