Location
In the heart of the Katavi National Park, nestled under a canopy of tamarind and acacia trees sits Chada Katavi. Truly born from adventure, the camp was built over 20 years ago, and in that time little has changed about the stunning location it sits on. It is a spacious and tranquil place from which you find yourself enchanted by the natural beauty that surrounds you.
Accommodation
There are six private tents with sweeping panoramas out onto the stunning African plains. They have comfortable beds dressed in cool soft cotton, en-suite tented bathrooms with eco-flush toilets, and exhilarating safari-style bucket showers. Each morning enjoy a freshly pressed coffee outside the tents open front, waking up with the surrounding wildlife.
The camp also features a dining area where you will enjoy delicious, locally-inspired meals. Enjoy a picnic under a shady tree by some distant waterhole during the middle of the day, spend the rest of your afternoon reading a book in a shaded camp chair.
Dine al fresco under a vast star-studded African sky, then enjoy an evening drink around the campfire as you get to know your fellow campmates. At night, fall asleep to the sounds of the bush and the call of the hyena.

- Chada Katavi’s guides are eager to show you the wonders of Katavi National Park. You’ll be taken on a private tour of these vast plains, escorted by an armed scout so that you can explore the surrounding wilderness in complete safety.
- It’s so safe, in fact, that you can even spend a night sleeping out beneath the stars. We challenge you to tell us a more remote way to spend the night. Our fly tent trip is a real stripped back wilderness adventure.
- On a journey to the rivers you will spot the mighty hippos and crocodiles. As the water supply decreases throughout the season, expect to see a scrap or two as magnificent beasts fight it out for space.
- Take a guided bush walk to discover unspoiled nature on foot. You're invited to slow down and take in all that Katavai has to offer from a different aspect by the wild panoramas that span the plains.
- Experience freedom with the wind in your hair with a game drive like no other. The remote barely touched park provides an intimate view of the animals that roam by land, air and water.

Community
Chada Katavi holds dentist outreach clinics to the far-flung areas of western Tanzania where oral healthcare is hard to come by. Their dentist professionals visit schools outside Katavi National Park, as well as giving the Chada staff the once over.
Conservation
Nomad works alongside the Landscape and Conservation Mentors Organisation (LCMO) who support communities around Katavi. Their work consists of running conservation, environment and education programmes. Nomad offers support through the funding of flights and investing heavily in their village ambassador programmes.
Community
Chada’s parent company, Nomad used Chada as a basecamp to facilitate specialist teacher training workshops in the village schools surrounding the National Park. The training aims to equip teachers with skills and tools to better cope with the harsh teaching environments they deal with daily.
