The location of Chamba Camp is quite extraordinary. When you stand on its grounds and look up, you will not only see the fortressed facade of Thiksey Monastery, but also the jagged, snow capped peaks of the Himalayas behind. The fact that the camp is only open for such a short period each year, and has to be resurrected for each new season, makes it feel all the more exclusive.
The designers of Chamba Camp seem to have two sources of inspiration: the luxurious royal tents of India’s maharajas and emperors; and the modern amenities and individual service we associate with the best bush camps in Africa. They’ve blended these absolutely seamlessly.
