Location
At an altitude of about 2,900m (9,500ft), and surrounded by the Vilcabamba mountains of the Andes, this lodge sits a little way off the Cuzco-Urubamba road in the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas. It’s a peaceful, rural and unpolluted spot surrounded by terraces of quinoa and corn.

Every detail of the architecture and decor of explora Valle Sagrado is sophisticated, calming and memorable, making it the type of place that will enter your emotions as a high point of your visit to Peru.
The 44 standard rooms and six larger suites have panoramic windows, huge beds, a good desk and plenty of hanging space for outdoor clothes, along with – of course – excellent bathrooms. The clutter-free simplicity and abundance of wood greatly enhance the view into the landscape.

Beyond the rooms, the communal areas are equally smart; there are large communal areas, a library, a shop and a stylish bar. In the grounds, the Pumacahua Bath House is a spa housed in a restored 17th century colonial mansion. It houses steam rooms, saunas, a pool and lounging areas.
The menu in the lodge’s restaurant is designed for the active guests, most of whom will have burnt many calories during the day, but the food is equal parts substance and style. Expect to eat local specialities, including cushuros (an algae found at the bottom of Andean lakes) and some of the 4,600 variations on the native potato. We recommend the quinoa pancakes for breakfast.
