Location
Galapagos Safari Camp is situated off the beaten track in the lush vegetation of a 55 hectare private estate in the highlands of the island of Santa Cruz. Nine luxury tents are located below the main lodge.
Accommodation
At Galapagos Safari Camp, you will stay in one of the nine teak-floored luxury tents that are pitched about 70m away from the site’s main lodge. There’s also a larger three-bedroomed family-friendly cabin in the lodge, but even in the tents you will have an ensuite bathroom, handwoven rugs, teak furniture and a terrace looking out onto the wonderful landscape of the national park and ocean. You will feel as if you could be on an expedition ashore from The Beagle with Charles Darwin.
This adventurous place gives it guests no-nonsense and appropriate luxury. There is an excellent infinity plunge pool, but it is not ostentatiously large on the grounds of water conservation. There is no bar, but that doesn’t prevent you from sipping a beer or a cocktail from the comfort of any one of a number of locations, all with tremendous views.

As for dinner, it’s a time to sit at the communal table (if you want, for there are smaller ones too) so that you can swap tales with your new like-minded friends.
There’s a weekly organically-based set menu to choose from; the logic is that this cuts down on food waste, and is all part of the camps excellent sustainability credentials. The owners of the camp will share your desire to experience the wonders of the Galapagos in an appropriate way with minimal impact despite some comforts.

Experiences
- You will be encouraged to take part in reforestation efforts and help out with the planting of native cacao plants.
- The lodge can organise five, six or seven-day itineraries to ensure that you get to see all of the main highlights of the islands. If you want to remain on land, that can easily be arranged.
- A tour of the Charles Darwin Research Centre is the type of thing that guests at this safari lodge tend to revel in. You are likely to be someone who is fascinated by the history of the formulation of the theory of evolution.
- We would thoroughly recommend a visit to the white sands of Tortuga bay. Here, you will see marine iguanas and blue footed boobies. If you go snorkelling, you may end up frolicking with a seal.
- A great highlight of a stay on the island of Santa Cruz is a chance to see the giant tortoises. Commune with these gentle giants and marvel at the history that they have witnessed.
