Location
The Inkaterra La Casona lies in the Plaza de las Nazarenas, a stunning part of Cusco surrounded by cobbled streets. You’ll be walking - and staying - in the footsteps of the Conquistadors, but also Simon Bolivar, who was once a guest at the hotel.
Accommodation
La Casona was the first boutique hotel in Cusco, and its fabulous historic architecture reflects the cultures of both Spain and Peru. The 11 suites surround the main patio, and all of them are fitted with chimneys and underfloor heating to keep you cosy on chilly Andean nights.
Soak away your cares in the extra-large bathtubs, or perhaps treat yourself to a massage in the Yacu Therapy Room. All the products used are made from local ingredients.
You will dine in La Casona’s atmospheric dining room, where the chefs endeavour to share with you the secrets of indigenous Peruvian cuisine. Afternoon tea is served daily and is complementary and you can enjoy native and imported wines and spirits at any time.

- Visit the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuamán, location of the annual Sun Cult festival. You may want to return via the Baños del Inca at Tambomachay where Incas engaged in ritual bathing.
- If you are a horse-lover, don’t miss the chance to ride in the Sacred Valley where you can experience part of the Inca Trail as you gaze at snow covered mountains and ancient terraces.
- How about a day white water rafting on the Urubamba or Apurimac rivers?
- To experience an altar encased in silver, head to the grand cathedral in Plaza de Armas.
- Stroll through the cobbled cute neighbourhood of San Blas, home to many local artisans. Try to find the instrument maker with a guitar made from an armadillo.
- For the adventurous who don’t mind a very early start, a day trekking amongst the staggering scenery at Rainbow Mountain is unforgettable.
