Location
Kigelia rests gracefully beneath the grove of sausage trees it is named after (Kigelia africana) Set in the best game area within the Ruaha region, where elephant herds often come and dig for water on the dry river bed that Kigelia overlooks.
Tented Bedroom Kigelia Camp Ruaha
Accommodation
The camp has just six large luxury tents, elegantly designed with traditional locally crafted furniture that compliments the surrounding bush. Each tent offers you large, comfy beds and an en-suite bathroom, with flush loo and outdoor safari style (hot) bucket shower.

The wide veranda looks out onto the surrounding bush, and the many roaming resident elephants and colourful birdlife. There is one family tent at the camp, which comprises two separate en-suite bedrooms situated adjacent to each other under a large thatch roof.
Wake to the sounds of the wild and enjoy a delicious bush breakfast beneath a baobab tree. After exploring surrounding nature, your mouth watering lunch awaits, served out on the dry river bed. Share sundowners amongst friends around the campfire, before a sumptuous meal in a separate dining tent or out under the stars by lantern light.

Conservation
Conservation
Run by Nomad, Kigelia has a partnership with Lion Landscapes, an organisation dedicated to carnivore research and conservation. Four of the camp staff members are involved in the carnivore sighting program to help the organisation gather data.
Environment
Environment
Nomad prides themselves in their eco-friendly design, food sourcing, waste management and plastic use. They have ensured that Kigelia Ruaha Camp’s design had minimalism in mind meaning complete immersion in its natural surroundings and have reduced their overall ‘food miles’ sourcing, wherever possible, from local communities.
Community
Community
Nomad partners with The Hope Centre (Mugumu Village): A community focused project offering a refuge for young girls fleeing from female genital mutilation. Most of the girls only stay for a month or so, while the Hope Centre team works to reunite them with their parents. There are primary and secondary school aged girls, and others who are older and learning vocational skills in the centre.
