Location
In the far northern reaches of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, high up in the stunning Kogakuria Kopjes, luxurious Lamai Serengeti waits for you. Just south of the border with Kenya, with breathtaking views of the Mara River Valley and the Lamai Wedge.
Accommodation
The camp has been lovingly designed with huge respect for this magnificent location. Each of the 12 guest rooms (spread across the main camp and a smaller private camp) combine stone, thatch and natural poles, providing a wonderful sense that you are a part of your surroundings, with the rooms blending perfectly into the kopje.
This is not to say that all of the comforts you would expect from an exclusive property have been forgotten. Once inside, you can relax in the comfort of exquisite, locally designed furniture, or soak in the large en-suite bathtub.
Outside, each expansive veranda faces in a different direction, out across the surrounding plains, providing an idyllic retreat in between activities.

The main areas of both camps boast a refreshing swimming pool with stunning views and a relaxing library with interesting books space to write. The lounge is cosy where the open fire roars during a chilly evening.
In the dining area, take your breakfast on the decking whilst watching elephants saunter across the serengeti. In the evening, dine on delicious cuisine surrounded by the sounds of the African night.

Experiences
- Explore the Serengeti on an exciting 4X4 game drive, as you cover vast areas discovering the wealth of wildlife that’s resident here year-round.
- When the grasses are shorter you can head off with your guide on a bush walk, to spot the smaller creatures of the bush and learn how this diverse ecosystem supports all manner of species.
- Between July and October each year, one of the world’s largest animal migrations crosses through the lodge’s grounds. During this period, expect to witness vast numbers of the Serengeti’s wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle make their way towards the Mara River.
- Perhaps Tanzania's best-kept secret. Even when the majority of the wildebeest have departed south on their annual journey, this location is still home to an array of territorial predators.Which can offer an exceptionally exclusive and fruitful safari experience.

Conservation
Like Serengeti Safari Camp, Lamai Serengeti is also ran by Nomad. Another conservation initiative they run aims at mending strained relationships between communities and neighbouring wildlife. Nomads alternative livelihoods training, wildlife monitoring, and ‘Watoto Go Wild’ programme helps run campaigns to change minds and encourage local ambassadors and young leaders to stand up for their wildlife, environment and national heritage.
Environment
Nomad prides themselves in their eco-friendly design, food sourcing, waste management and plastic use. They have ensured that Lamai’s design had minimalism in mind meaning complete immersion in its natural surroundings and have reduced their overall ‘food miles’ sourcing, wherever possible, from local communities.
Community
In many villages bordering Tanzania's National Parks, it is not common practice for children to enrol in a pre-school programme. Knowing the importance of an early start to learning, Lamai’s parent company; Nomad invests in nursery centres and meal-a-day programmes to encourage attendance, and give children the best possible start on their educational journey.
