The eco friendly Okahirongo River Camp is tucked into a bend in Namibia’s Kunene River. Long grass and rugged peaks surround the quirkily designed property, which nevertheless complements the landscape perfectly. We can assure you: you won’t forget these views.
The designers say that Okahirongo River Camp’s interiors can be categorised as African minimalist chic, but we’d hardly call them minimalist! Elegant nets drape over the king size beds, the furniture is often handmade, and artisans have left their mark on the artworks and textiles alike. You’ll wake up in the mornings looking straight outside, remembering you are truly in the wild.
Herds of springbok leap through the grass immediately in front of the camp. On a game drive you can also see desert-adapted elephant, and there are possibilities for fishing on the Kunene River. Take to the skies in a light aircraft for unrivalled views, then take time to meet with the local Himba people, one of Africa’s last truly nomadic groups.
