Location
This 33m long catamaran runs a variety of routes around the Galapagos, frequenting all the prime spots to give its passengers the best chance of seeing the remarkable wildlife. The captain and crew are experts on all the details of the islands.
Accommodation
The Petrel carries a maximum of 16 passengers in its 9 large rooms, which are better described by their official term of “staterooms” than as cabins. You will certainly be able to sip a glass of wine on your own balcony and feel like you are living the life of the super-rich. The vibe continues into the communal areas which are decidedly opulent and, because of the width of the catamaran, spacious and airy with fantastic views. With smart, shiny décor, involving plenty of polished wood and bold colours, the vibe is clean and sophisticated.
There’s a huge sun deck with a 6-person jacuzzi from which you will love watching the sunsets after a day exploring an island. As you relax, the crew will be swiftly transferring you to your next adventure in the boat that is rumoured to be the fastest in the Galapagos fleet. If you prefer to be indoors, you will still have the views but you may be relaxing in the cozy yet sumptuous lounge (also the location for evening lectures and briefings). With only 16 passengers, you won’t have to bag a seat or search too hard for some privacy.
With all the adventures of hiking, snorkelling and paddling, to say nothing of the raised pulse of watching dolphins and whales, you will have quite an appetite each day. This is no problem because the dining on Petrel is generous and delicious. The catering staff produce a varied and enticing menu for all three meals which you can enjoy inside or outside. Finish the day off with a drink from the bar.

- Petrel catamaran has an open-bridge policy, so you will be welcomed by the captain onto the bridge to learn about navigation and other aspects of operating this superb vessel.
- Make use of the catamaran’s free snorkelling equipment so that you can get into the environment that supports the diverse marine ecosystem.
- The vessel also has sea-kayaks for you to slice through the water as you watch out for sealions and penguins.
- Relax with a cold drink on one of the decks under the shimmering night sky. Far from any light pollution, the view of the stars is unforgettable.
