Located just a few minutes’ walk away from the entrance to Kibale Forest National Park, Primate Lodge is a perfect base to set off trekking chimps, wasting no time with transfers. Watch these playful primates play, forage and swing through the trees whilst you watch in awe of their undisturbed nature.

You can also discover more here than the impressive chimp population: take forest walks spotting diverse flora and fauna, for a different perspective set off at night to see the nocturnal creatures of the forest come to life, hike the slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains or visit villages to gain an understanding of the fascinating culture and way of life, including the Batoro tribes.

The cottages are constructed from brick, glass and thatch on solid raised platforms and have private verandas with beautiful views. All are tastefully decorated with queen or twin beds, large windows, en-suite bathrooms, and artistic African art adorns the walls. The larger luxury cottages are more intimate, situated in a private area of the forest and have huge glass sliding doors and large windows to let in maximum light and allow guests to be immersed in the amazing sights and sounds of the forest. They have king sized beds and outstanding ivory coloured bathrooms.
Take a stroll down a winding path to the main lodge where you will find the inviting and open lounge, the perfect place to relax at the end of an exciting day of discovery, sharing stories amongst your fellow guests whilst the monkeys chatter in the canopy just outside. The spacious restaurant serves both international and African cuisine, the well-stocked bar will keep you refreshed and there is even a unique ‘cave’ where fires are lit to warm yourself up in cooler evenings.

The lodge contributes to the livelihood of the surrounding communities by involving local families in different service areas, ranging from employment and the supply of locally grown products to providing handmade crafts and cultural performances.

Minimising their environmental impact, the lodge is constructed with local materials and makes use of solar powered electricity. The lodge also has a relatively small footprint and the forest is the focus producing a serene environment for visitors and wildlife alike.
