Safarihoek Lodge is situated on a 60,000-hectare private game reserve on the southern border of the Etosha National Park and provides the quintessential Namibian safari experience. The lodge is an excellent base for seeing the spectacular wildlife, scenery and other desert features of the greater Etosha area.
Whether you prefer your own company or that of new-found friends, there are a number of spots from which to soak up the view of the vast horizon – pool lounger, grassy patch or air conditioned wine lounge. Or simply get cosy at the fireplace with a good read, or watch the game visiting the camp’s waterhole.
Below the lounge area, bar and dining room, is a wine cellar and lounge with large glass windows allowing you to feel connected to nature. From the impressive vantage point of the dining, lounge and boma areas, this magnificent setting lends itself to relaxed, stylish dining under the African skies.

Each well-appointed room offers panoramic vistas of the African savannah. Rooms are privately situated and are furnished with, minibar, coffee station and mosquito nets. Air-conditioning, electronic safe, hair dryer, two 3/4 beds that are convertible to king beds, en-suite bathroom and a small desk work area. Safarihoek Lodge is entirely powered by a solar system.
Between safaris you can return to Safarihoek to enjoy the views and dip in the pool whilst meals are served in the main dining room area under thatch with a view over the lodge’s waterhole often teeming with wildlife. This makes it the perfect place to relax and enjoy wildlife without setting foot out of the lodge.

Conservation
Safarihoek’s parent company, Natural Selection (NS), has put their efforts into safeguarding the rhino in Etosha’s future. Within the reserve, NS have an anti-poaching team dedicated to protecting the rhinos and preventing any illegal hunting along the boundaries of the reserve.
Community
Natural Selection were part of a communal herding initiative that protected cattle from desert lions during the dry months in 2021. Food parcels were provided every month to 4 communal herders. In addition, there was an initiative to buy the last few cattle remaining after the drought and donate the meat back to affected communities (the motivation being that less cattle will reduce grazing pressure and human-wildlife conflict in the process).
Conservation
In certain areas there might seem to be plenty of them, but giraffes across Africa are under threat, and together with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, NS are creating a strong presence in northwest Namibia to further their understanding of this Angolan sub-species and create awareness of the plight of these stately and beautiful creatures.
