Walkway To Main Area Sayari Serengeti
Location
You can discover Sayari Camp in the northern reaches of the Serengeti, in a prime location just a few moments away from the Mara River. This Tanzanian side of the Mara River is a special part of the Serengeti and one of the best-kept secrets of Africa – it hosts large concentrations of wildlife all year round and is less known than the Masai Mara on the Kenyan side of the river.
Bedroom Sayari Serengeti
Accommodation
Step from the large wooden deck into one of 15 stylish tents. Through the glass sliding doors you gaze at uninterrupted views of the rolling plains. In the bedrooms, fine linens dress the king size or twin beds, and flowing nets shield you from the night. The en-suite bathrooms offer a choice of indoor and outdoor showers as well as a luxurious free-standing bath..

In order to maintain the intimate atmosphere for all guests, the camp is split into two, with six tents on one side and nine on the other. Both sides of the camp have their own separate comfortable lounge and dining areas, with plenty of choice of where each delicious meal is taken. After supper, share evening stories of the day's adventure around the cosy campfire.
In between the two halves of the camp, framed by natural rock formations, the beautiful infinity pool provides a wonderful place to relax during the heat of the day. As you drink in the views across the serengeti, you might book a massage or spa treatment, before sampling one of the unique beers at the first-of-its-kind solar-powered microbrewery.

Experiences
  • Migrating wildebeest and other antelope can be seen here from July to November. This is also when the famous Mara River crossings can take place, witness these from the camp’s open game-drive vehicles or from the private verandas.

  • Take a short guided nature walk (season dependent) to learn more about the area's amazing eco-system and study the smaller things that you may miss on a game drive.

  • Learn about the culture and traditions of the Kuria tribe with a visit to nearby Merenga. On your journey collect fresh produce for your evening meal from the community vegetable garden.
  • Jump aboard an exciting hot-air balloon trip and slowly lift above the trees to catch the early morning sunrise. Drifting silently above the ground reveals a new dimension to the landscape of the Serengeti.

  • For very keen photographers, enjoy a photographic safari experience in one of Sayari’s modified vehicles. With swivel-seats and beanbags, camera rests and drop-down sides, you are sure to capture the perfect shot.

Conservation
Conservation
Sayari’s owners, Asilia, supports the Serengeti Cheetah Project; a team that monitors changes in birth and survival rates of cheetahs, meaning they are able to make predictions about cheetah numbers in other parts of their range. The study area currently covers 220 km2 in the southern corner of the Serengeti National Park. With approximately 210 cheetahs in the ecosystem, this research provides invaluable insight into the challenges facing cheetah and aims to help make conservation of these wild cats easier. When staying at Sayari you can directly help the project just by taking a picture of any cheetah you come across. The pictures will help to keep track of the cheetahs in the Serengeti and to monitor their populations and movements.
Community
Community
Supported by Asilia, The Eastern Serengeti Livestock Encroachment Unit aims to protect vital wilderness areas and create sustainable practices to ensure these areas are continuously monitored and cared for. This work is done alongside the Frankfurt Zoological Society and aims to ensure communities can move forward in their practices alongside wildlife, not against it.
