The Skeleton Coast National Park is the least visited reserve in Namibia, but now that Shipwreck Lodge has opened, all that is set to change. For the first time, there is a truly stunning place to stay.

You can take game drives in pursuit of desert adapted wildlife, visit the Suiderkus and Karimona shipwrecks, and track elephant along the Hoarusib River - experiencing Namibian wilderness in all its rugged glory - and then retreat at the end of the day to the luxurious surroundings of the lodge and all the comforts it affords.

Shipwreck Lodge has 10 guest rooms, two of which are designed to accommodate a family. Each of the rooms has an en suite bathroom with an indoor shower, environmentally friendly solar power, and a wood burning stove to keep you warm on chilly desert nights.

Shared guest areas include a large lounge with wraparound deck, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. The views stretch straight across the sand to the coast, and thence to the Atlantic Ocean. You never lose sense of your environment, or that you are a very long way from civilisation.
Your all-inclusive stay will be filled with game drives along the Hoanib River in search of the desert-adapted species that call the champagne coloured dunes home. The desert is many things to many people, but never is it empty.

The highlight will be seeing elephant digging for water and then seeing the giraffe and baboon that follow them in hopes of an easy drink. You’ll also find Namibia’s only other population of lion outside of Etosha National Park. The birdlife along the coast is prolific, and the lodge’s outdoor decks are well positioned for birdwatching.
