Swala Camp

We find the main dry season (between June and October) to be one of the most exciting times to be in Tanzania and stay in the luxury of Swala Camp. The waterhole within sight of the camp is one of the few permanent sources of water for many miles, attracting a regular procession of elephant, antelope, lion and giraffe. Location
Swala Camp is located in a remote and beautiful setting of majestic acacia trees in the southern part of the Tarangire National Park. The winding route through the park gives some amazing opportunities to see wildlife even before reaching the camp.

Accommodation
The camp has twelve elegantly furnished and very spacious permanent tented rooms, each with comfortable twin or double beds and a cosy lounge area. The en-suite bathroom boasts his-and-hers vanities and both indoor and open air showers, keeping you close to nature is high on the list. Your room is set on an expansive raised wooden deck providing a veranda with chairs so that you can relax and enjoy the view between exciting game drives.
Elevated on stilts around the ancient baobab trees is the beautifully decorated lounge, library and dining area. You can watch the elephants come to the nearby waterhole whilst you enjoy your delicious meals, and listen to the songs of hundreds of species of birds in the canopies above. If you have a sweet tooth, we recommend the delicious dessert, "Chocolate Kilimanjaro." It melts on your tongue and looks like the snow-capped white summits of Mount Kilimanjaro. On the outside deck, chairs circle a lit fire pit. Here you end another perfect day swapping adventure stories with friends both old and new.

Sanctuary Retreats runs The Bike Shop Programme, a community initiative that empowers local communities through mobility. Providing bikes helps health care workers see more patients, students make the journey to school, middle- to low-income workers get to work in an affordable manner, and families carry more goods to and from home. Each bike shop employs five women, providing them with the opportunity to support their families through earned income.

Sanctuary Retreats is working toward eliminating the health inequalities which continue to be persistent and pervasive throughout Africa. Sanctuary Retreats believe creating access to clean drinking water is the best way to fight this. The Safe Water for Schools Initiative introduces sustainable, non-invasive means to acquire clean water for students in Kenya.
