Why Linyanti & Savuti?
The Linyanti River flows from Namibia’s Lake Liambezi and continues through the Linyanti-Gumare Fault. This water-rich area, which includes the Selinda Spillway and Savute Channel, is essential for animals during Botswana’s dry season. Large herds of elephants and buffalo, as well as lions, cheetahs, wild dogs and hyenas can be spotted throughout the vast, 135,000-hectare Selinda concession. A safari here is an especially private experience – only 18 guests are permitted on the Selinda Reserve at any one time.
The Savute Channel, where the watercourse is less predictable, is ideal for a canoe safari to watch as elephants drink, bathe and play in nature’s most essential resource. It’s also a lovely place for mobile camping and waking up to a different landscape each morning.
