The Linyanti River’s course follows the Linyanti-Gumare Fault, flowing out of Lake Liambezi. The wider Linyanti region includes the Savute Channel and Selinda Spillway as well, and collectively they offer unmatched game viewing opportunities.
Selinda is an absolutely vast concession of 135,000 hectares. The river is highly unusual in that the water can run in two different directions, depending on where the water is at its highest. The floodplains are rich in game - herds of elephant and buffalo, prides of lion, packs of African wild dog and hyena, as well as jackal and cheetah - but there are scarcely any people at all. In fact, just 18 guests are permitted on the Selinda Reserve at any one time, making it an incredibly exclusive safari destination.
The Savute Channel is a more unpredictable watercourse, where large herds of plains game and hundreds of elephant flock in huge numbers to drink and bathe during the dry season. Enjoy life-changing boat and canoe safaris to see the elephant relishing this aquatic haven up close.
