Antarctic Circle

Hordes of wildlife thrive amongst treacherous glacial landscapes

To cross the Antarctic Circle, in the footsteps of Captain James Cook, one of the first explorers in the region, and enter what is officially known as The Antarctic, places you in the select company of the intrepid travellers and adventurers who have journeyed to the far south of our planet.

As your Antarctic cruise winds its way through the icy waterways, you will be totally immersed in a world of spectacular scenery and wildlife. The land is dotted with penguin and seal colonies, and below deck humpback whale and orca swim alongside accompanying you through the icy seas. To gaze skyward, and see snow petrel soaring above cracking sea ice is a mesmerising experience.

To get even closer, try a diving cruise. Slipping beneath the surface of polar waters has no comparison; diving under shallow ice or down along walls, from the beach or from a Zodiac is spectacular - the combination of water, sunlight, and ice formations create an ever-shifting spectacle of colours. Encounter an extraordinary diversity of wildlife – from starfish, lobster and crab to soft coral, anemone, jellyfish and sea urchins.
