Amankora Thimphu

Thimphu, Bhutan

The Amankora Thimpu is nestled in a pine forest, and the fresh fragrance of the pine needles lingers in the air. It’s incredibly relaxing, especially when you breathe in deeply as you enjoy a complimentary 60-minute spa treatment at the lodge.

Amankora Thimpu’s 16 suites contain king-size beds, bukhari wood-burning stoves, tiled bathtubs, and a huge window seat, with tranquil views of the surrounding streams and pine forests. Natural materials feature prominently in the interior design, highlighted especially in the wood panelling and flooring. The linens are crisp and white, and the choice of furniture is simple but exceptionally tasteful. They’ve managed to create a particularly peaceful ambience inside the rooms, reflecting the tranquility of the mountains.

There is a wellness centre to add to the serenity of your stay; try the traditional Bhutanese oil massages. Then spend the evening sampling the culinary delights of the region at the resort’s restaurant, where Bhutanese ingredients such as yak meat and honey are blended with Western flavours.
