Angama Mara perches atop a rocky hill and looks down on the Masai Mara across landscapes carved by the Great Rift Valley. It’s comprised of two intimate camps with just 15 tented suites each, and is accessed via a private airfield.
The tents at first appear to be classical in style, but when you look closely you will realise that they have an 11m wide floor-to-ceiling glass front for optimal wildlife viewing. You can therefore look straight out from the seating area, your bed, or even from the bath! The tents are large - 100 sqm including the deck - and the highly polished parquet floors contrast wonderfully with the splashes of Maasai red in the textiles and art. Several of the tents can be joined together, making them a convenient option for families.
The guest areas of Angama Mara were inspired by Nairobi’s historic Muthaiga Club, featured in the movie Out of Africa. One room is entirely wrapped in stacking glass doors; the internal space is divided by columns; and the terraces hang off the valley edge. In between game drives you can swim in the infinity pool, workout in the gym, and feast on classic safari food.
