The Belmond Hotel das Cataratas has an unbeatable location: the surroundings are spectacular and you really can’t get any closer to Iguazu Falls. The hotel was originally built in a hacienda style in the 1950s, and it’s been sensitively restored to keep its character and charm, but to have all modern conveniences.
The styling of the rooms and suites is inspired by the Portuguese colonial heritage. The colours on the walls are rich, the textile patterns vibrant, and much of the furniture is antique. Choose between twin, queen, and king size beds, enjoy the flora and fauna paintings by local artist Ludmilla de Montes, and treat yourself to a bath with luxurious toiletries.
Facilities at the hotel are of the highest standard, and they include a huge heated outdoor swimming pool, a fitness centre, and tennis court. The Cataratas Spa offers treatments with responsibly harvested rainforest ingredients. You will dine in the depths of that same rainforest: the Ipe Grill is a mouthwatering Brazilian barbecue; and the Itaipu Restaurant serves Brazilian fusion food.
