The architecture of Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa is completely unique on Easter Island, featuring grass roofs, stone walls, clay structures, and colours and textures which blend into the natural environment. The design and layout of the reception area was based on the ancestral boathouses of the region. The result is a sleek and contemporary lodge with luxurious rooms, yet with constant reminders throughout of the beauty and innovation of nature. Natural light floods every space.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious, each containing beautiful ornaments handmade by local Chilean artisans. There is an abundance of outdoor space where guests can wander at their leisure, including a large swimming pool. Sip cocktails by the pool at the Vaikoa Bar and gaze upon the gorgeous sunsets (or sunrises) over Rapa Nui. Deep relaxation is on offer at the Manavai Spa.
Sustainability and preservation of the surrounding area are key. The hotel has solar panels, highly efficient electrical equipment, and a sophisticated irrigation system which purifies wastewater. The products used in the spa are all natural and locally sourced, and the building materials were all found in the Rapa Nui region.
