Jack's Camp

Makgadikgadi, Botswana

A luxury camp that harks back to an era of glamour, Jack’s Camp is set in the spectacular Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, one of the world’s largest prehistoric super-lakes. It offers guests a stylish place to stay while admiring the abundant wildlife and unique beauty of the pans.

Jack’s Camp offers breathtaking views across a vast expanse of shimmering white sand. During the rainy season, this same salt pan transforms into a luscious green space teeming with abundant wildlife.

If you opt for a safari excursion, you can then catch a glimpse of the rare brown hyena and the Kalahari lion, as well as a wide range of species of rare migratory birds. Bushmen trackers will be your insightful local guides on each fascinating nature walk.

You’ll have the pick of 10 quirky Bedouin style tents that are adorned in swathes of crimson and which include en suite bathrooms. Pavilions that hark back to an altogether more glamorous period in time help keep the desert heat at bay, while the Persian rugs and hot water bottles are perfect for the cooler evenings.

Under an open-sided tent, you can enjoy a shaded afternoon dip in the pool before embarking on one of Jack’s Camp’s most exciting activities.

It is here that you can sit at dusk awaiting the arrival of the local meerkat mob from the pans who may use your head as their personal watch tower. Explore the pans on quad bikes before returning to camp for an lively evening of billiards and drinks.
