Kalahari Plains Camp

Kalahari, Botswana

Kalahari Plains Camp is located in the Kalahari Game Reserve, a national park that is home to many varieties of wildlife, including migratory herds of zebra and wildebeest and an assortment of birds and raptors. The camp is unique because it is run entirely on solar power, as well as using an ancient water harvesting technique. Its eco credentials are stronger than any other camp in the Kalahari.

You’ll stay in one of the eight comfortable en suite tents, with the option of spending a night in the star bed, experiencing the beauty of the Milky Way glimmering above the Kalahari. The guides here aren’t just wildlife experts — they can also help you navigate the constellations in the night sky.

During the day you can learn more about the locals by heading out on a bushman walk, with camp staff members from the San Bushman tribes, giving you an introduction to their customs, and culture. Returning to camp after your excursions, you can swim in the inviting pool, chat with other guests around the campfire, and enjoy delicious, freshly prepared, local meals with a varied selection of wines.
