Laikipia Wilderness

Laikipia, Kenya

Laikipia Wilderness is a family-run camp where you’ll be warmly welcomed by third generation Zimbabwean Steve Carrey, his Scottish wife Annabelle, and their three sons. It’s a small, authentic bush camp with five traditional tents. Each tent will sleep three people, and there’s a four-person family tent as well.

Each tent is set on its own platform, which extends beyond the canvas to form a veranda. The en suite bathroom is partially open to the sky: there’s something very special about showering during a thunderstorm, or on a quiet night looking up at the stars. Energy in the tents comes from solar power, there is hot and cold running water, and the decor and soft furnishings is simple but comfortable and tasteful. You might be right in the wilderness, but you’ll have absolutely everything you need.

The large mess tent at the centre of the camp houses the dining room, sitting room, and a library. It also has a large outside deck where guests gather around the campfire at night to share stories and stargaze.
