The Seychelles is an entire archipelago of tropical paradises, but even here, North Island is something very special. The jade green palms wave above granite peaks and below them the icing-sugar-soft sand gives way to turquoise seas. More often than not, yours will be the only footsteps on the beach.
There are only 11 villas on North Island, created from local materials, many of which were collected and upcycled when the island was being restored. The architectural style is best described as barefoot luxury, and it is executed to perfection. The woodwork seems bleached by the sun and the surf and the colour palette, completely natural.
The open plan Presidential Villas have incredibly high wooden ceilings and are set along the island’s East Beach. Plush, creamy coloured furniture sits upon polished wooden flooring, and the net-draped beds are huge. You can wander straight out to your private plunge pool on the deck, lying in the shade on a lounger.
