Selinda Camp

A splendid escape in the heart of a private reserve

Reconnect with the wilderness at Selinda Camp, one of Botswana’s most luxuriously appointed permanent camps in the remote Selinda Spillway. Resting on the banks of a lagoon, this camp is set within the private, 130,000-hectare Selinda Reserve. It shares this vast area – close in size to Kenya’s Masai Mara – with only its similarly intimate sister camps, Selinda Explorers and Zarafa. The whole reserve hosts no more than 36 guests at any given time and the result is both a comfortable and blissfully isolated escape from everyday life.

Each of the four thatched suites feel even more expansive due to the high, pitched roofs. Your connection with the natural surroundings and indeed Africa itself, is the aim of the newly refurbished design, with careful consideration given to nature’s elements. Water is at the forefront, as the spacious suites and their attached teak verandas overlook the lifegiving lagoon outside. Air is invited in with billowing silks and open walls. The element of fire grounds your stay, with evenings shared around the firepit, with sundowner drinks while swapping tales.

You will enjoy the benefits of private plunge pools, perfect for afternoon dips, as well as hammocks should you crave a revitalising nap. Your mornings will consist of exhilarating game drives and walks, where your guide will take you out in search of the area’s abundant wildlife. You won’t have to strain your eyes to spot animals; guides at Selinda are experts in their craft and year-round, the game-rich reserve brims with elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog alongside a wide range of other iconic African species and diverse birdlife. Other activities include boating on the lagoon and birding, as well as tracking wildlife for the more adventurous spirits.

Should you crave an even more exclusive stay, you can choose the Selinda Suite. This two-bedroom tented villa is more expansive than the others and functions as its own mini-camp. Staying here, you will enjoy the benefits of your own private vehicle and safari guide, chef, manager and butler.
