The Selinda Explorers Camp sits lightly on the land. It accommodates a maximum of eight guests at any one time, all of whom must be 10 years or older. The two room family tent sleeps four people, and is in a gorgeous spot beneath a canopy of jackalberry and mangosteen trees. The en suite bathroom, though enclosed on the sides, is open to the stars, but if you fancy bathing completely in the wilderness, you can always request that your brass hip bath be portered to the sandbank on the edge of the river.
Staying here evokes the glamour and exclusivity of safaris in the early 20th century. Vintage travelling trunks stand besides the campaign furniture, and hot and cold water is provided in copper jugs on the vanity in your suite.
The staff working here are very much in touch with the landscape and the wildlife; the guides seem to know intuitively which animals will be sighted where. The canoeing trips through the waterways are sublimely peaceful; the game drives and guided walks are rather faster paced.
