The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille

Laikipia, Kenya

The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille opened in 2007 and pioneered sustainable tourism and community partnerships in Laikipia. It set the bar for architectural design as well, and is still regarded as one of the finest safari properties in Kenya.

There are four villas at Sanctuary at Ol Lentille, accommodating two to six people. The Eyrie is a romantic hilltop retreat for a single couple, with a round bedroom, sunken bathtub, and wrap around terrace. The design was inspired by an eagle’s nest, and you’ll have bird’s eye views of both Mount Kenya and the elephant’s watering hole.

All guests at the lodge share the library and viewing deck, which are built into the living rock. You’ll gather here for pre dinner drinks around the fire, then move elsewhere to eat. The chefs prepare some delicious signature dishes, and they like to surprise you by serving your meal somewhere else each night. There are lounging pods around the infinity pool, and you can also make use of unlimited massages and treatments in The Spa.
