Travelling with Journeysmiths
When you enquire about taking a holiday with Journeysmiths, you’ll be assigned your very own travel designer who will work with you to create a trip that will be just perfect for you in every way. Once you’re happy with the design, that person will book the entire trip and stay in control of your holiday until you return.

How are you handling holidays that have already been booked?
We are in regular direct contact with each client who has booked or postponed a holiday. As each holiday is individually created, the circumstances pertaining to each are unique. We are continually reviewing the situation in each country, including official travel advice and local regulations which will apply to each part of the holiday.

Are you aware of the safety situation in the countries where you operate?
We have 30 years’ experience arranging top quality travel and have superb local partners. We are in contact with these partners worldwide to understand the situation in each locality and the safety precautions that are in place for every point in a clients’ journey. We will check and communicate these to each client in the weeks leading up to their departure and will continue to monitor the situation while they are travelling.

How are lodges and hotels handling the pandemic?
We have been impressed by the thorough professionalism of the measures that our partners have implemented. We are seeing comprehensive safety precautions and staff training being put in place at all lodges, hotels and airports that we regularly use.

When should I be planning and booking a holiday for 2021 or 2022?
As soon as possible, especially for the peak season from July to December 2021. While few people will be travelling on holiday to Africa, Asia and Latin America in the next few weeks, we are urging you to plan and book holidays for next year, particularly for the second half of 2021 and for early 2022, when demand for top quality accommodation will outstrip supply. You can plan and book with confidence, taking advantage of our Flexible Booking Policy.

What is the position regarding international travel in the next few weeks?
International flights to Africa, Asia and Latin America are gradually being reinstated, though FCO and US State Department advice is to avoid travel to most of those countries. Also some countries are currently not prepared to receive visitors from the UK and USA, in view of our infection rates. Your Government may require you to quarantine upon your return. We can provide up to date information about the travel advice and restrictions currently in place for particular countries.

Can I take a holiday even if my government advises against travelling to my chosen country?
If you decide to travel against the advice of the FCO or US State Department, you should check whether this invalidates your travel insurance cover. Some insurance companies are prepared to provide travel insurance under such circumstances. It is also possible to obtain limited insurance cover from a company in the country to which you intend to travel, covering for example, emergency medical insurance.

What do you expect to happen going forward?
As the pandemic comes under control, Government advice, restrictions and insurance cover will ease. We will continue to monitor the situation and update our advice on this page and personally to each client who is contemplating travelling or who has booked a holiday.
