What’s New 2022

Exciting properties opening soon

There’s plenty to look forward to this year; the world is at your fingertips once more and we can’t wait to show you what you’ve been missing. Whilst many of our beloved wild places have been in hibernation, there’s been exciting things happening under the surface.

From the boutique boltholes in the foothills of the Himalayas, to energy-positive hotels on the edge of a Nordic glacier - we’ve uncovered some incredible new properties that we think will excite and inspire you.

A Place to Feel Free
The Homestead, South Africa
The Homestead in South Africa is all about the location; it’s easy to reach from Durban and Johannesburg, yet being in the relatively undiscovered Nambiti Private Game Reserve, you’re in for a real game viewing treat. Yes, you’ll be able to see the Big Five in this vast wilderness, but the lesser-seen species such as pangolin and aardvark are equally thrilling to encounter.
A Place to Feel Free
The Homestead, South Africa
The Homestead takes you deep into the wilderness. Hike through untamed landscapes, camp overnight in the mountains and contribute to sustainable initiatives by helping to document the progress of their conservation programmes and much more.
A Place to Feel Free
The Homestead, South Africa
The camp combines sustainability and luxury with ease. Twelve unique suites sit effortlessly within the surrounding landscape. In the main area, the infinity pool is the perfect place to relax after a day in the wild or unwind with a cool drink on the viewing platform overlooking the camp’s waterhole.

This extraordinary homestead is due to open early this year.

A Place to Make a Difference
Sanctuary Tambarare, Kenya
Opening in summer 2022, boutique style meets the open plains of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy at Sanctuary Tambarare. Game viewing within the conservancy is incredible. The conservancy has the largest population of black rhino in East Africa and it’s possible to ride alongside them on a morning horse ride.
A Place to Make a Difference
Sanctuary Tambarare, Kenya
Head out under the cover of darkness on a night game drive to see nocturnal species spring to life or explore or trace the path of the Ewaso Nyiro River in search of hippo and crocodile.

There are just 10 luxurious guest tents nestled amongst fever trees with private verandas overlooking the plains; an idyllic base from which to recharge after the thrill of a day on safari.
A Place to Make a Difference
Sanctuary Tambarare, Kenya
Be a part of protecting the conservancy's lion population and join a ranger tracking these mighty cats for the Ol Pejeta Ecological Monitoring Department

A Place to Reawaken Your Senses
Svart Meløy, Norway
It’s looking like the hotly anticipated Svart Meløy in Norway will finally open this year. Eyes have been on this hotel since the first announcement in 2018 that it planned to be the first energy-positive hotel in the world.
A Place to Reawaken Your Senses
Svart Meløy, Norway
Located in the Arctic wilderness at the bottom of the Svartisen Glacier, guests are perfectly placed for outdoor adventure including ice-climbing on the glacier, yoga classes in the midnight sun, wildlife-spotting and diving.
A Place to Reawaken Your Senses
Svart Meløy, Norway
There will be a sustainable farm onsite producing for all four restaurants. Rooms afford stunning fjord views and to top it off there is an indoor-outdoor spa offering innovative treatments such as cryotherapy and sound therapy.

A Place to be Wild
Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, Tanzania
The Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge in Tanzania has benefited from its prime riverside location since the 1990’s; guests sit comfortably in camp watching hippo and crocodiles along the riverbank.

Sadly, in 2020 the Grumeti River burst its banks and flooded the camp, but andBeyond have turned this into an opportunity to completely renovate, taking inspiration from the incredible wilderness that surrounds it.
A Place to be Wild
Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, Tanzania
Set to reopen in June 2022, the camp is a true celebration of nature’s design and brings understated luxury into the wilderness, while focusing on generating renewable energy - of which 80% of the camp will run on.
A Place to be Wild
Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, Tanzania
The camp’s remote location in the western reaches of the Serengeti means that few lodges have set up camp nearby. This gives guests an exclusive game viewing experience; no rumbling of other vehicles or jeeps flocked around a large pride of lions here. Here you will have the wilds of Africa to yourself as you head out in search of clans of hyena, black and white colobus monkeys and big herds of resident plains game.

Time it right and catch a glimpse of the great migration as wildebeest journey from the southern Serengeti up into the Masai Mara.

A Place to Get Active
Punakha River Lodge, Bhutan
For the traveller, the appeal of Bhutan lies in remote Himalayan scenery, unique culture and architecture, relatively untouched by mass tourism. It’s no surprise that andBeyond picked this evocative country to launch their first lodge in Asia.
A Place to Get Active
Punakha River Lodge, Bhutan
Punakha River Lodge is opening in early 2023 and it’s going to be something truly special. Located on the banks of the Mo Chu River in the Punakha Valley, with the Himalayan Mountains as its backdrop, the lodge offers unrivaled access to the very best hiking, river rafting and cycling in Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten.
A Place to Get Active
Punakha River Lodge, Bhutan
We recommend staying in the two-room family suite for complete privacy and an incredibly inviting plunge pool, all set within the peaceful Bhutanese landscape.
