An Active Adventure

Explore Tree Canopies, River Rapids and Coral Reefs

Costa Rica’s biodiversity is legendary. Alongside wildlife watching, however, it’s developed a stunning array of activities which enable you to explore and appreciate the landscape in different ways.

The rainforest is the most exciting place to be. Venture along treetop walkways and cross canopy bridges, or rapel from the tops of waterfalls down to the forest trails below. There are zip lines and sky tram tours, both of which will bring you up to the level of the birds. Horse riding along the rainforest trails is thrilling, but even more special is to canter along the beach at sunset, the hooves of the horse crashing through the surf as it hits the sand.

You can master the currents of Costa Rica’s rivers by kayak or inflatable raft. We can even arrange for you to river raft into the superb Pacuare Lodge, deep in the forest. Sea kayaking is possible too, which makes for an interesting contrast from the river rapids. There’s a whole other world beneath the waves, invisible to all but a fortunate few, so pull on your mask and flippers for snorkelling or diving: this is the active way to enjoy the beach.
