Dune buggy adventure

Huacachina and its sand dunes are in Ica in southwestern Peru. The landscape might be reminiscent of that in the Sahara, but since the 1940s it has been one of the most popular retreats for Peru’s elite. Originally a spa town, Huacachina has been transformed in recent years into the country’s premier active tourism destination, especially for exhilarating rides in dune buggies.

The dune buggy is a specially built 4x4 vehicle which has big fat tires so it doesn’t sink down into the sand. Your expert driver will give you an exhilarating ride, frequently at great speed, up and down the dunes, often at angles which seem to defy the laws of physics. Every member of your family will be grinning from ear to ear.

From the tops of the dunes, you’ll have superb views of the desert. Nothing beats gazing out at the sunset as it turns the sands pink, ideally with a glass of cold Champagne in hand.
