UNESCO describes Victoria Falls as the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. A site of outstanding universal value on account of its exceptional combination of water, rolling clouds of spray and numerous rainbows, which also make it incredibly beautiful. It is no exaggeration to say that Victoria Falls is one of the great natural wonders of Africa.
The falls straddle the Zimbabwe-Zambia border and can be viewed from either side. In Zambia, we highly recommend staying at a secluded lodge beside the Zambezi: Tongabezi are especially good picks. Use this as your base for watery adventures, including rafting through the 16 sets of rapids from the base of the falls. Boat rides and canoe trips are also possible, and slightly more tranquil.
Don’t miss Victoria Falls from the air: it’s the best way to appreciate its immensity. A open-air microlight flight will have you soaring amongst the birds or you can sightsee from a light aircraft or helicopter in a little more comfort.
