Who are Journeysmiths Africa?

Like mankind, Journeysmiths’ roots are in Africa. 33 years ago, John Burdett with his wife Susan and Warwick Hoffman, the original Journeysmiths, founded Africa Exclusive. During this time we became one of the world's leading specialist safari tour operators.

Today Laura Burdett-Munns leads the second generation of Journeysmiths, building upon the values established by the founders who continue to be actively involved.

Dedicated Personal Consultant
You won’t be left to navigate an online booking system and trawl through pages of product information. We will work with you on each individual booking, tailoring it perfectly and we are happy to be as involved as you would like us to be.

Flexible Working
Should it be preferred we can speak with you and your clients, we will create all supporting documents complete with your company branding and we can be as hands on as you would like us to be. Similarly, we are happy to sit in the shadows if you want to take the lead. We won’t ever interfere with your client relationships.

How we work with you

A word about pricing
There is a world of difference between one of our individually designed safaris and most package holidays. Our safaris use small, more exclusive and remote camps usually with guests flying in, and often virtually everything is included in the price. The experience is completely different.

Many of these small lodges and camps have broadly similar prices, and it is possible to arrange a superb safari holiday starting from around US$10,000 – $15,000 per person, season dependent, all inclusive. Realistically it is difficult to reduce that figure, and by including Botswana in peak season, chartering a private plane, disappearing to some magical desert island, or flying at the front of the plane it’s easy to substantially increase that figure!
