Jacks Private Look Out
Location
Jack’s Camp remains in the location established by legendary crocodile hunter Jack Bousfield in the 1960s: the middle of Botswana’s otherworldly, starkly beautiful lunar landscape of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

While it may seem sterile at first sight, it is teeming with life when you are shown where to look.

Accommodation
Set apart and secluded from the main part of Jack’s Camp, the Private Camp retains the winning formula and character established by Ralph Bousfield, Jack’s son, but is a smaller, more exclusive and tailored experience.

It is designed for families, friends, or small groups seeking privacy and the advantages of complete flexibility. With private staff, including chef, and a dedicated guide and vehicle, there is no set routine other than the one that the guests want to establish themselves.

Jack’s Private Camp is comprised of two spacious suites with private verandas and canopied four-poster beds (one with an XL King size bed, the other with two XL King size beds, both with extra day beds).
For us, though, the highlight of the suites are the bathrooms: they both have chaise-longues, two indoor showers, deep polished brass bathtubs, and private outdoor showers. You certainly won’t be lacking for ways to wash away the dust of the day before your sundowner cocktail.

Between the two suites is the communal lounge area, separate kitchen and library. With opulent deep red tapestry-style canvas walls, hardwood floors, Persian rugs, hand-woven African textiles, brass fittings, and natural history curios atop mahogany furniture, the vibe could hardly be more luxurious yet appropriate to the adventure you are having.

Step outside, and you will be on the expansive deck that surrounds a beautiful pool overlooking the salt pans. If that were not enough, you can also avail yourself of all the facilities at the main Jack’s Camp, with its pool pavilion, tea tent and natural history museum.

Go Exclusive In Botswana

Or you may want to fulfil a dream of walking, mokoroing and camping out in the Okavango. You may simply crave an extra degree of privacy. Most lodges we use take fewer than 16 guests, some take only eight, so booking a whole lodge is a viable option.
